How this works

Doctors diagnose PCOS when two of three features are present, once other causes are ruled out: irregular or absent ovulation, signs of higher androgens from symptoms or a blood test, and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound. This check covers the first two from symptoms alone.

Common questions

Questions we are asked most.

General information, not medical advice for your situation. Bring your own question to a consultation.

Ask on WhatsApp
Does PCOS mean I will not be able to get pregnant?
No. PCOS affects how regularly you ovulate, not whether you can conceive at all, and many women with PCOS become pregnant. Treatment usually starts with weight, insulin and cycle management, then ovulation induction if needed, well before assisted treatment is considered.
Are irregular periods always PCOS?
No. Thyroid disorders, high prolactin, significant weight change, stress, some medicines and the years approaching menopause all cause irregular cycles. PCOS is diagnosed on a combination of cycle pattern, examination, blood tests and a scan, not on the cycle alone.
